The in-vitro activity of grepafloxacin against Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Ureaplasma urealyticum and Legionella spp.
The activity of grepafloxacin, a new orally active fluoroquinolone, was compared with the activities of ofloxacin, clarithromycin and doxycycline against Chlamydia pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, and with the activities of ofloxacin, clarithromycin and rifampicin against Legionella spp. Grepafloxacin (MIC range 0.06-0.12 m...

one strain each and by trimethoprim for three strains were reduced (by 2, 6 and 6–7 mm, respectively) after incubation in a CO 2-containing atmosphere compared with those obtained following incubation in the aerobic atmosphere. None of the seven isolates was CO2dependent and in all cases, the susceptibility categories for the relevant antibiotics were downgraded from susceptible in the aerobic ...
متن کاملActivity of cathelicidin peptides against Chlamydia spp.
The in vitro activity of six cathelicidin peptides against 25 strains of Chlamydia was investigated. SMAP-29 proved to be the most active peptide, reducing the inclusion numbers of all 10 strains of Chlamydia trachomatis tested by > or =50% at 10 microg/ml. This peptide was also active against C. pneumoniae and C. felis.
متن کاملAntifungal activity of Turkish honey against Candida spp. and Trichosporon spp: an in vitro evaluation.
Abstract Honey samples from different floral sources were evaluated for their ability to inhibit the growth of 40 yeast strains (Candida albicans, C. krusei, C. glabrata and Trichosoporon spp.). Broth microdilution method (CLSI, M27-A2) was used to assess the activity of the honeys against yeasts at different concentrations ranging from 1.25-80% (v/v). All of the yeast strains tested were inhib...
متن کاملAminopeptidase activity in arginine-utilizing Mycoplasma spp.
In an examination of arginine-utilizing Mycoplasma species, simple fluorogenic and chromogenic tests were used to demonstrate high levels of arginine aminopeptidase activity in unwashed, unconcentrated broth and agar cultures in all strains of 5 species and low levels of activity in all strains of 14 species. Four species contained strains which exhibited either high or low levels of activity.
